Venue: Royal Ambarrukmo Hotel Yogyakarta
The Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta is a luxurious 5-star hotel with 247 rooms and is part of the royal palace Ambarrukmo. The palace dates from the 19th century and has a long and rich history. Royal Ambarrukmo Yogyakarta is a 20-minute drive from Malioboro and the Sultan's Palace in the center of Yogyakarta, and also a 20 minute drive from Candi Prambanan.

The “New International Airport Yogyakarta” is approximately 50 km from the hotel. The travelling time by car is around 75-90 minutes due to the heavy traffic. Recently an excellent train connection between airport and the main railway station of Yogyakarta is opened. The train is very convenient with sufficient space and air-conditioning and taking 35-40 minutes traveling through the beautiful landscape of Java. A taxi ride of app 20 minutes will bring you from the station in the center of Yogyakarta to the hotel.
Most citizens from non-Indonesian countries can enter Indonesia with a tourist visa up to 30 days (Please check for your personal situation). If needed, you can buy this tourist visa easily when entering the country via Denpasar or Jakarta (costs 500.000 IDR = app 30 USD cash) (Please, don’t use “online” visa organizations. They charge you 5-6 times the official price as “costs”.
There’s no malaria on Java
240 Volt. Most power plugs and sockets in Indonesia are type C and F. This plug is the 2 pin socket and plug design which is the standard European plug. If you’re coming from a country that does not use this type of sockets, you should use an adapter.
At many shops everywhere, but also at the international arrival terminal of Denpassar (Bali) and Jakarta (Java), you can easily buy at low costs a local SIM card with sufficient mobile data . For this, your IMEI number needs to be registered officially. This can only be done at the international arrival terminal of Denpasar (Bali) and Jakarta (Java) just after immigration.

Uber and Bolt are not functioning in Indonesia. Good and reliable Indonesian alternatives are “Grab” and “Bluebird”. App’s similar to that of Uber and Bolt can be downloaded for iPhone and Android. Besides use of the App, the Bluebird taxis can also be ordered on different ways. The driver can be paid by cash or credit card based on the taxi meter. Note that the American Express Card is usually not accepted in Indonesia.
The Indonesian rupiah is the official currency of Indonesia. The currency code of the rupiah is IDR and its symbol is Rp. Most notes depict historical leaders of Indonesia, including 2 sultans. Notes are generally printed in monochrome blue or red.

Jalan Malioboro (Malioboro Street)
Malioboro street is a major shopping street in Yogyakarta. The name is also used more generally for the neighborhood around the street. It lies north–south axis in the line between Yogyakarta Kraton and Mount Merapi. The street is the center of Yogyakarta's largest tourist district surrounded with many hotels, restaurants, and shops nearby. Sidewalks on both sides of the street are crowded with small stalls selling a variety of goods. In the evening several open-air street side restaurants, called lesehan, operate along the street. This is the street of the artists. Street musicians, painters, and other artists exhibit their creations on this road.
Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat (Kraton)
The Kraton, or in English the Royal Palace of Yogyakarta, is a palace complex in the city of Yogyakarta. It is the seat of the reigning Sultan of Yogyakarta and his family. The complex is a center of Javanese culture and contains a museum displaying royal artifacts. It is guarded by the Yogyakarta Kraton Guards.
Taman Sari Water Castle
Taman Sari is the site of a former royal garden of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta. It is located about 2 km south within the grounds of the Kraton, Yogyakarta. Built in the mid-18th century, the Taman Sari had multiple functions, such as a resting area, a workshop, a meditation area, a defense area, and a hiding place. Taman Sari consisted of four distinct areas: a large artificial lake with islands and pavilions located in the west, a bathing complex in the center, a complex of pavilions and pools in the south, and a smaller lake in the east. Today only the central bathing complex is well preserved
Prambanan
Prambanan (Candi Prambanan) is a 9th-century Hindu temple compound in the Special Region of Yogyakarta dedicated to the Trimūrti, the expression of God as the Creator (Brahma), the Preserver (Vishnu) and the Destroyer (Shiva). The temple compound is located approximately 17 km (11 mile) northeast of the city of Yogyakarta on the boundary between Central Java and Yogyakarta provinces.
The temple compound, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the largest Hindu temple site in Indonesia and the second-largest in Southeast Asia after Angkor Wat. It is characterized by its tall and pointed architecture, typical of Hindu architecture, and by the towering 47-metre-high (154 ft) central building inside a large complex of individual temples. Prambanan temple compounds originally consisted of 240 temple structures, which represented the grandeur of ancient Java's Hindu art and architecture, and is also considered as a masterpiece of the classical period in Indonesia. Prambanan attracts many visitors from around the world.
Borobudur
Borobudur (Indonesian: Candi Borobudur), is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple in Magelang Regency, near the city of Magelang and the town of Muntilan, in Central Java, Indonesia (app 43 km from the Royal Ambarrukmo Hotel in Jakarta. Constructed of gray andesite-like stone, the temple consists of nine stacked platforms, six square and three circular, topped by a central dome. It is decorated with 2,672 relief panels and originally 504 Buddha statues. The central dome is surrounded by 72 Buddha statues, each seated inside a perforated stupa. The monument guides pilgrims through an extensive system of stairways and corridors with 1,460 narrative relief panels on the walls and the balustrades. Borobudur has one of the world's most extensive collections of Buddhist reliefs.
